FAQ

Why is Scrum Fundamentals important?

The world of work is experiencing seismic change. Across the business landscape, autonomous cars, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things and other advanced technologies demands reskilling for the technology-enabled workplace. The COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a forcing function, exposing dysfunctions and flaws in the structure, processes and culture of organizations. As a result many are urgently switching to Agile for the first time, or looking to speed up their acquisition of Business Agility. Scrum – or a hybrid of Scrum with other Agile methods – is the approach adopted by more than 80% of Agile teams. Scrum skills are in sharp demand.

Who should take the Scrum Fundamentals adaptive learning course?

Any professional, in any sector, who needs to know about the Scrum framework, the roles in a Scrum team and the events and artifacts that make up its inspect-and-adapt cycle will benefit from this course. The course can also help individuals prepare for online exams such as those of Scrum Alliance or scrum.org.

Organisations that need to quickly scale their Agile learning and development can do so economically, confident that the learning objectives of the world’s largest Agile network, Scrum Alliance, are met. Graduate schemes can be enriched and new hires quickly brought up to speed on the basics of Scrum.

How long does it take to complete the course?

No individual is the same as another and Adaptive Learning is highly personalized. Not only will learners engage with the course at their own pace, but how much material they are presented with will differ according to the platform’s assessment of your understanding. However, there is about two and a half hours of content. Your understanding is constantly probed throughout and refreshed until 100% comprehension is achieved.

Does the Scrum Fundamentals course lead to any recognised certifications?

On completing the Adaptive Learning course you receive a certificate of completion from Emerald Hill signed by globally renown Certified Scrum Trainer, Alan O’Callaghan. You also get a voucher for a discount on either a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) course delivered by Emerald Hill.

Are there any group discounts available?

Group discounts can be arranged on application to maria@emerald-hill.co.uk for groups of four or more people.

How does Adaptive Learning work?

Think of Adaptive Learning as a kind of highly-personalised e-learning. You can sign in to the Area9 RhapsodeTM platform from any device, any time. You start by assessing your level of understanding anywhere from ‘novice’ to ‘expert’ and will initially be presented with selected content based on that assessment. There are multiple probes for each learning objective. After each one you answer you will be asked for your level of confidence in your response. Using the latest AI algorithms the program adapts according to your progress, only presenting you with the material that you do not yet understand. You are more likely to be engaged as a learner because you won’t be bored by being presented with stuff you already know. Importantly Area9 RhapsodeTM targets “unconscious incompetence” – a term psychologists use to describe the gap between what you think you know and what you actually understand. You will be probed continually on individual learning objectives until you demonstrate mastery. Research shows you can achieve 100% comprehension in half the time it would take using last-gen e-learning, and that the effort required to retain what you have learned is 90% less.

How can my organisation scale Agile learning using Adaptive Learning?

Organisations can purchase credits for multiple seats for any Emerald Hill Adaptive Learning course. Alternatively our content can be integrated into an organization’s Learning Management System (LMS) via Area9 RhapsodeTM and “white labelled” under license so that is presented in the colour scheme, style and logo of the host company. Depending on the pricing agreement unlimited numbers can access unlimited courses.  Any updates to Emerald Hill content is immediately available to all learners. Integration and white labelling is an economic solution to scaling that supports onboarding of new hires as well. Contact maria@emerald-hill.co.uk to learn more.
